A personalised AI companion that talks naturally, remembers, reminds, supports daily routines and keeps families in the loop when it matters.

Designed to help families living with life-changing conditions through intelligent, innovative technology

No app to download · Works on WhatsApp, SMS & voice call · Available 24/7

The family/carer often carries the mental load: remembering appointments, checking whether routines happened, calling repeatedly, and worrying when they cannot be present.

The quiet, constant worry

Families are living further apart than ever

Across every continent, modern life pulls families apart. Siblings scatter across cities, countries and time zones. What stays behind is a quiet, constant worry: is Mum eating properly today? Did Dad remember his medication? When did anyone last actually talk to them?

The people who need a little gentle support the most are often the ones least likely to ask for it. That's where an AI care companion comes in. Family Ties AI is designed to fill this gap — offering the everyday companionship, encouragement and structure that helps a loved one stay engaged and connected.

A kind, patient friend who is always available

Family Ties AI brings everyday support directly to your loved one through the phone they already use. Through WhatsApp, SMS, messages and voice calls, it can start conversations, provide personalised reminders, help with appointments and routines, remember what matters, and gently follow up when needed. If something important is missed or changes, authorised family members can be kept informed too.

For someone living with a condition like Alzheimer's or cancer, the days can feel long and lonely. A warm, familiar companion who checks in regularly can make a real difference — bringing them comfort, and helping the whole family feel more connected.

More than 1.4 million older people in the UK experience chronic loneliness, while 3.9 million say television is their main form of company.

Zero learning curve

Always available, always patient

Customise the voice, language, accent, name and personality. A British grandmother in Manchester, a grandfather in Lahore, a tía in Mexico City — each is spoken to in their own way.

A complement, not a replacement

Family Ties AI is not a clinical service or a substitute for medical care. It provides the daily warmth, structure and connection that fills the gap between visits, calls and check-ups.

The point of difference: we're not trying to replace carers, care homes or family. We're building the soft, warm, daily layer of companionship and gentle health-keeping that sits alongside everything else in a loved one's life.

About Family Ties AI & Sophia

What is Family Ties AI?

Family Ties AI is a family support platform designed to help people stay connected, supported and independent.

Our AI companion, Sophia, provides personalised conversations, reminders, regular check-ins and everyday support while helping authorised family members and carers stay informed when they cannot always be there.

Who is Sophia?

Sophia is the AI-powered personal companion behind Family Ties AI.

She can have natural conversations, provide reminders, check in throughout the day, help maintain routines and provide personalised support based on each person’s individual preferences and needs.

Who is Family Ties AI designed for?

Family Ties AI is designed for people who may benefit from additional everyday support, companionship or structure.

This can include older adults, people living independently, people living with memory difficulties or long-term challenges, and families or carers who want additional peace of mind when they cannot always be present.

Is Sophia a replacement for family members or carers?

No.

Sophia is designed to complement human care, not replace it.

She provides an additional layer of companionship, communication and everyday support between family visits, phone calls and professional care.

Is Family Ties AI only for older people?

No.

Although Family Ties AI can be particularly helpful for older adults and people living independently, Sophia can support adults of different ages who may benefit from reminders, routine, companionship or regular check-ins.

How Sophia Works

How does Sophia contact my loved one?

Sophia can communicate through WhatsApp, SMS and voice calls using the phone your loved one already has.

There is no separate app for them to download or learn.

Does my loved one need to download an app?

No.

We designed Family Ties AI around technology people already know how to use.

Sophia communicates directly through familiar messages and phone calls.

Does my loved one need a smartphone?

Not necessarily.

Depending on the communication method being used, Sophia can communicate through SMS or voice calls as well as WhatsApp.

Can Sophia have normal conversations?

Yes.

Sophia is designed to communicate naturally rather than simply sending automated notifications.

She can have conversations, ask questions, respond to messages and provide personalised interaction based on the information and preferences available to her.

Can Sophia call my loved one?

Yes.

Voice calls are available, alongside WhatsApp and SMS.

The communication methods used can depend on the individual’s preferences and chosen service.

Can Sophia check in when the family isn’t available?

Yes.

Sophia can provide scheduled or personalised check-ins when family members are at work, travelling, busy or simply unable to call at that moment.

What can Sophia remind someone about?

Sophia can provide personalised reminders for things such as:

  • Medication routines
  • Appointments
  • Meals
  • Hydration
  • Activities
  • Family events
  • Daily routines
  • Important tasks
  • Personal reminders

Reminders can be tailored around the individual’s normal routine.

Can Sophia help someone maintain a daily routine?

Yes.

Sophia can provide prompts and check-ins around regular activities throughout the day, helping someone maintain structure without constantly relying on family members to remind them.

Can Sophia speak different languages?

Sophia can support multiple languages, allowing families to create a more familiar and comfortable experience for their loved one.

Language availability may vary depending on the communication feature being used.

Family & Carer Support

How does Family Ties AI help families and carers?

Families and carers often carry a large mental load — remembering appointments, checking whether routines happened, calling repeatedly and worrying when they cannot be present.

Family Ties AI helps provide an additional layer of support so families can remain involved without having to personally make every reminder or check-in themselves.

Can family members see what is happening?

Authorised family members can access the Family Ties family portal to view relevant information, activity and updates connected to their loved one’s support.

Can more than one family member be added?

Yes.

You can add multiple family members, including as many as you need depending on your chosen plan.

This means the people involved in supporting your loved one can remain connected and informed where appropriate.

Can different family members receive alerts?

Yes.

Where the feature is enabled, alerts and updates can be directed to authorised family members or carers based on the family’s chosen setup.

What happens if my loved one doesn’t respond?

Sophia can follow up after an unanswered check-in.

Depending on the family’s settings, continued non-response or certain situations may also result in an authorised family member or carer being notified.

Can we change Sophia’s routines and reminders later?

Yes.

Family circumstances change, so Sophia’s reminders, routines, check-ins and preferences can be updated when needed.

Dementia, Memory & Personalisation

Can Family Ties AI support someone living with dementia?

Family Ties AI can provide additional everyday support for some people living with dementia, including familiar conversations, reminders, routines, memory prompts and regular check-ins.

However, every person and every stage of dementia is different.

Family Ties AI is designed to complement family and professional support and does not replace medical treatment or professional dementia care.

What if my loved one forgets who Sophia is?

That is okay.

Sophia can introduce herself naturally and provide gentle context during conversations where appropriate.

The experience can also be personalised with information that helps conversations feel more familiar.

Can Sophia help with memory and routines?

Yes.

Sophia can provide personalised prompts around appointments, daily routines, activities and other important things the individual may want help remembering.

These are supportive reminders rather than medical supervision.

Can Sophia be personalised to my loved one?

Yes.

Personalisation is an important part of Family Ties AI.

Families can provide information such as routines, interests, preferences, important people, communication preferences and other relevant details that help Sophia provide more meaningful support.

Does Sophia remember previous conversations?

Where memory features are enabled, Sophia can use relevant information and conversation history to provide a more continuous and personalised experience.

This means interactions do not always have to start from the beginning.

What kind of information can Sophia remember?

Depending on the permissions and features being used, this may include things such as:

  • Personal preferences
  • Interests and hobbies
  • Important family members
  • Routines
  • Important dates
  • Previous conversations
  • Communication preferences
  • Relevant information provided by the family

Will Sophia become more personalised over time?

Yes.

As Sophia interacts with someone and learns more about their preferences and routine, the experience can become increasingly personalised within the permissions provided by the individual and family.

Medication, Health & Safety

Can Sophia remind someone to take medication?

Yes.

Sophia can provide scheduled medication reminders based on information supplied by the individual or their authorised family.

Sophia does not prescribe medication or change medical instructions.

Does Sophia know whether someone has actually taken their medication?

Sophia can ask someone to confirm whether they have taken their medication and record their response where that feature is enabled.

However, that confirmation is based on what the person tells Sophia and should not be treated as clinical verification that medication has been taken.

Can Sophia give medical advice?

No.

Sophia is not a doctor or healthcare professional, and Family Ties AI is not a medical service.

Medical concerns should always be discussed with an appropriate healthcare professional.

What happens if Sophia notices something concerning?

Depending on the situation and the family’s settings, Sophia may ask further questions or notify an authorised family member or carer.

Family Ties AI is designed to help families identify situations that may need attention, but it should not be relied upon as an emergency monitoring service.

Is Family Ties AI an emergency service?

No.

Family Ties AI does not replace 999, NHS 111, emergency services or professional medical care.

If someone is believed to be in immediate danger or experiencing a medical emergency, the appropriate emergency service should be contacted directly.

Can Sophia make mistakes?

Yes.

Like all artificial intelligence systems, Sophia can occasionally misunderstand something or provide an incorrect response.

Important medical, financial, legal or safety information should always be independently checked.

Is my family’s information private?

Protecting personal information is a core part of Family Ties AI.

We operate in accordance with applicable UK data-protection requirements, including UK GDPR, and access to personal information is restricted to authorised users where appropriate.

Who can access information about my loved one?

Only appropriately authorised people should have access to information connected with an individual’s Family Ties account.

Permissions are established as part of the onboarding process and the family’s chosen setup.

Does my loved one need to agree to using Sophia?

Where appropriate, the person receiving support should understand what Family Ties AI is and agree to using the service.

During onboarding, we collect the relevant information, permissions and agreements before Sophia begins communicating with someone.

Where an individual has additional decision-making or support needs, their individual circumstances must be considered carefully.

Can we control what information Sophia knows?

Yes.

Sophia’s personalisation is based on information provided to Family Ties AI and the permissions associated with the account.

Families remain involved in determining the information used to personalise the service.

Can we stop Sophia contacting someone?

Yes.

Sophia’s communications can be changed, paused or stopped when required.

What happens to our information if we leave Family Ties AI?

Personal information is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy, applicable data-protection requirements and our data-retention policies.

Information that is no longer required will be handled or securely deleted in accordance with those policies.

Beta, Membership & Pricing

How do we get started?

Getting started normally involves three stages:

  1. Personal Profile
We learn about the person Sophia will be supporting, including their preferences, routines and communication needs.
  2. Agreements & Permissions
The appropriate agreements and permissions are completed.
  3. Setup & Introduction
The account is configured, family access is arranged and Sophia is introduced to the person she will be supporting.

Can we try Family Ties AI before paying?

Yes.

During our beta programme, selected families can receive a 30-day trial so they can experience Family Ties AI and provide feedback that helps us continue improving the service.

How much does Family Ties AI cost?

Family Ties AI is currently in its beta phase, so rather than publishing fixed long-term pricing before we understand how families use the service in everyday life, we are currently working with personalised Founding Member rates.

Usage can vary considerably between families. Some people may use Sophia primarily for check-ins and reminders, while others may use more conversations, messages, voice calls and additional features.

The beta programme allows us to understand these differences and develop fair and sustainable membership options based on real-world use.

Families will always be given clear information about any costs before moving onto a paid service.

Why haven’t you published fixed plans yet?

We want our future plans to be based on how families actually use Family Ties AI, rather than assumptions.

Our beta programme helps us understand the real cost and value of different features, including AI conversations, messages, voice calls, reminders, family access and other services.

We can then create membership plans that are both fair for families and sustainable for the service.

Will there be different membership plans?

Yes.

We intend to offer different levels of membership so families can choose the amount of support that best suits their circumstances.

This is expected to include a limited free option alongside paid memberships offering greater levels of access and additional features.

Full plans and pricing will be announced once we have gathered sufficient information from the beta programme.

What are Founding Member rates?

Founding Member rates are special early membership arrangements for families joining Family Ties AI during its early stages.

Rather than placing every family into a fixed package immediately, we can better understand how they use Sophia and identify the level of support that suits them.

Will beta families receive Founding Member benefits?

Families who support Family Ties AI during the beta period may be offered Founding Member rates or other early-member benefits if they decide to continue using the service.

Full details will be explained before any paid membership begins.

Can I join the waiting list?

Yes.

Families interested in Family Ties AI can register their interest.

Because we are introducing families gradually during the beta period, joining the waiting list allows us to contact you as suitable places become available.

Can I change my membership later?

Yes.

Once our membership plans are fully introduced, families will be able to move between available plans where appropriate as their needs change.

Can I cancel Family Ties AI?

Yes.

Families will be able to cancel their membership in accordance with the terms of their chosen plan.
